Grassroots Forest School

Sooke, BC

Rekindling connection to nature through exploration, mindfulness, and movement.

About us

We are grateful to run our programs on 120 acres of private land in the heart of Sooke. Our mentors are all versed in the coyote mentoring model, developed by Jon Young.

Rhythms

Through the rhythm of the day and the seasons, we support each child’s passion and gift. Given space to be themselves, children will thrive as they develop a strong sense of belonging and earth connection

A student-led approach to experiential learning and nature connection.

Grassroots Forest School occupies the land the T’Sou-ke Nation in traditional Coast Salish territory. The T’Sou-ke have lived on the land, sustainably, for thousands of years. We acknowledge and respect the knowledge and traditions the T’Sou-ke people hold and believe we have much to learn. We believe it is important for children and adults to learn about Indigenous way of being to work towards walking gently upon the earth, repair the damage that has been imparted to the land and to relationships and continue to foster reconciliation.
